A man allegedly stabbed his wife 30 times after she asked for a divorce on Wednesday, police in Las Vegas say.
The man, 60-year-old Clifford Jacobs, who was arrested by police, allegedly told officers that he blacked out after his wife of 15 years brought up the topic of divorce, and then remembered running to his apartment’s leasing office covered in her blood, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Saturday, citing an arrest report. Police say they found five knives and bloody scissors in the man’s apartment, and that witnesses told investigators that they heard Jacobs say that he “stabbed her” and “I think I killed her.”
Jacobs was arrested on charges of attempted murder and domestic battery resulting in substantial bodily harm, the newspaper reported. According to staff at the University Medical Center, the woman suffered nerve damage to her face and neck. Further details about the wife’s condition is unknown.

Other Incidents of Family Murders
In a separate incident in Texas in May, a man was accused of killing his wife and 4-year-old daughter after he had filed an appeal for his divorce. Sheriff’s deputies arrived at an apartment complex after receiving reports of gunshots and found four people dead inside an apartment. In an incident report, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said investigators believed the man “came to the location and shot and killed his wife, daughter and mother-in-law before turning the gun on himself.”
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told reporters it appeared the man had “possibly been going through divorce proceedings or some type of formal separation.”
In February, police said that a woman in Florida fatally stabbed her husband 140 times with knives and a cleaver. Local news station WPTV reported at the time that Melvin Weller was found in a pool of blood in a kitchen, with bloodstains all over the room and knives and a meat cleaver in the sink.
In April, a woman in Tennessee was accused of stabbing her husband after an argument over the taste of his coffee. After arriving at the scene, police found the man suffering from stab wounds. He was later taken to the hospital, where he died.
“Officers were advised that the victim was involved in an altercation with his wife when she reportedly stabbed him. The suspect, 68-year-old Sheila Downey, was not on the scene when officers arrived, [but] she returned and was taken into custody,” the Memphis Police Department said in a statement at the time.
