They were passed out in the Taco Bell drive-through with a kid in the car, police say

A couple was arrested after being found passed out in their car in a Taco Bell drive-through with a 4-year-old in the back seat, said police in Winters.

The car was running and in park when officers arrived at the drive-through around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, said a report from the police.

 

The two adults in the car were both unconscious; the woman in the driver’s seat had an open bottle of tequila. A child was in the back seat, without a seat belt.

A Taco Bell employee said the couple had been passed out for at least 10 minutes. A photo from the scene indicates they made it as far as the ordering station.

Police woke them up to arrest them.

The pair were identified as being from Madison, a small community 10 miles north of Winters.

The 33-year-old woman was charged with driving under the influence and child endangerment. The 34-year-old man was charged with public intoxication and child endangerment. Both were taken to the Yolo County Jail.Police did not disclose who took custody of the child after the arrest.
