A Texas man allegedly shot and killed several members of his own family early Saturday morning, according to local police.
Police responded to the family’s Corsicana home around midnight after receiving a 911 call about the shooting, Corsicana Police Chief Robert Johnson wrote in a statement to Newsweek Saturday afternoon.
The officers found a man and a woman who suffered fatal gunshot wounds, as well as two other gunshot victims who were flown to a Dallas area hospital, according to the statement.
The Navarro County Sheriff’s Department also responded to a second location in Frost—about 20 miles west of Corsicana—and found the bodies of a man and a child. They also suffered fatal gunshot wounds. Police also found a woman who suffered multiple gunshot wounds when first responders took her to a Dallas area hospital.
Detectives then tracked the man’s vehicle using its GPS navigation system. They found and intercepted the vehicle, instructing the monitoring service to remotely turn off the vehicle’s engine.
Members of the Corsicana SWAT team approached the vehicle and found the driver suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. Treatment was administered at the scene, and he was taken to the Navarro Regional Hospital, where he died.
Police continue to investigate the shooting and have not yet released the names of the victims or suspect as they wait to notify their other family members. They have also not publicly released any motive for the shooting.
Corsicana is a city of roughly 25,000 people located about 55 miles southeast of Dallas.
It is the latest instance of someone opening fire on their family members. Last month, a father in Houston allegedly shot and killed his adult son. The two allegedly got into some sort of a dispute, leading him to shoot his son several times, police said. His attorneys have since said that he only fired in self defense after his son allegedly began attacking him, KTRK-TV reported.

Meanwhile in Florida, a woman allegedly fatally shot her 3-year-old son and 9-month old baby before shooting herself in what police have called a “horrific tragedy.”
A man from New York City also faces charges of murder after he allegedly shot and killed his son on New Year’s Eve. His 29-year-old son was found lying on the sidewalk outside of his home on Staten Island, while his father 57-year-old Joseph Leone was arrested for the shooting.
